One of our mission emphases of FCC is a focus on education and reducing stigma around Mental Health. We work to provide quarterly education to the Barrow County Community and host the Northeast GA Out of the Darkness Walk in October.
"This ministry is designed to establish and grow partnerships with health providers, social services, community leaders and others to collaborate and bring a larger focus to those that are often underserved or ignored. We aim to be a catalyst for advocacy and education in the treatment of mental illness in our community by providing space and an avenue for conversation about this unspoken disease."
First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) understands that each person is created and claimed by God as God’s own child. Therefore, we seek to:
- Create a safe space for people to live their story
- Create an open forum for people who want to share their story
- Find opportunities for training and education around mental health issues
- Continue to break the stigma and the silence about mental illness and death by suicide.
